The update of the first Strategy Plan was concluded in 2026. Below we describe the long process and the resulting documents.
A call for new or updated White Papers was issued in November 2023 with a deadline for submission of July 26, 2024.
The submitted contributions were presented at the “III LASF4RI for HECAP Symposium: Update of the Strategic Plan“, held at ICTP-SAIFR in São Paulo in August 26-29, 2024, with the participation of the Preparatory Group, High Level Strategy Group, Funding Agencies and representatives of similar efforts around the globe.

In December 2024, a new Preparatory Group (PG) was formed to conduct the writing of the updated Physics Briefing Book (PBB),
and seven working groups were established: Astronomy, Astrophysics and Astroparticle Physics; Cosmology;
Dark Matter; Neutrinos; Electroweak & Strong Interactions, Higgs Physics, CP & Flavour Physics and BSM;
Instrumentation and Computing; Advanced Training and Capacity Building.
The writing of the PBB started in May 2025 and after a long and laborious process it has finally come to fruition with a first version finished in December 2025. This version was uploaded in the arXiv with the number arXiv:2603.06291 .
Based primarily upon the PBB, a subgroup of the Preparatory Group was tasked to write a Strategy Document. This document was circulated to the Preparatory Group and to the Board of LAA-HECAP. It was then sent to the High Level Strategy Group (HLSG) that recommend a few changes, incorporated in the final version.
Finally, in a meeting on July 15, 2026 a Report was prepared by the HLSG with some considerations on and endorsement of the Strategy Document.
We now considered that the update process is completed. We want to thank all the persons involved in this long process, and the resulting documents will be sent to different agencies for support.
